Members of MELT attended The Council on American-Islamic Relations “1,000 Who CAIR, Call to Action” event at O’Shaughnessy Auditorium in St. Paul, Minnesota on March 25, 2017. While challenging Islamophobia and defending civil rights, organizers of the event succeeded in enlightening, entertaining, and inspiring the 1,500 people in attendance. Audience numbers exceeded expectations and the large group was collectively moved by the impressive list of speakers and entertainers, including: CAIR’s Executive Director, Jaylani Hussein; Minnesota Representative, Ilhan Omar; civil rights activist, Nekima Levy-Pounds; Gold-Star father, Khizr Khan; and the Somali Museum Dance Troupe.

It is CAIR-MN’s “firm belief that we can light the fire and passion of 10,000 great Minnesotans to join the fight against bigotry and hatred.” To get involved in 10,000 WHO CAIR, please visit
